If the goal was to eat, drink + explore our way through Downtown Asheville in three days, then mission accomplished. I had heard such wonderful things about this small city and, I am happy to report, they all held true. Known for its beautiful scenery, incredible beer, a strong + supportive arts community, it has a low key mentality that was contagious after spending just a few hours here. Asheville is the kind of place that makes you want to c h i l l .

I felt right at home as we walked through the River Arts District. Full of studios where artists work year-round, visitors are encouraged to poke around to see what the creatives are up to in an open, yet personal setting. It’s inspiring to walk through other art spaces and see how people operate - some studios are clean, organized, and the process is more evident. Others are messy, even chaotic, and the method behind the madness remains a bit of a mystery. Whatever the process may be, these artists are at it day in and day out, and the results are there for all visitors to enjoy.

To sum it up, Asheville is all about living the good life. Similar to Nashville, folks here seem to be happy - truly happy, and everyone is off on their own pursuit to make the best of each day. People are friendly, courteous, and everyone, it seems, has a dog (max happiness achieved). Can’t wait to go back!

I love traveling to + exploring new areas - especially when that travel involves a place like The Durham Hotel (Durham, NC). The moment we pulled up to unload our bags, it was obvious that booking this particular hotel was a smart move. Its striking exterior has a sleek, impressive design and the interiors are fully decked out in MCM decor. When we got to our room, we found thick, hooded robes and white slippers waiting for us (sooo cozy), along with a tray full of local snacks and chocolates. After a full day of eating, sipping and checking out some local shops downtown, we returned to our room to find the lights on low, chocolates on our pillows and classical music softly playing from the ihome sitting on the nightstand.  So many fun little touches, which made this a really hard place to leave! With a super clean room, relaxing stay, and such a friendIy, accommodating staff - we just can't wait to go back.

You cannot convince me otherwise, there is nothing quite like a real beach town. We just returned from celebrating our 3 years of marriage on the west coast and Ocean Beach did not disappoint. I had read that it was one of the "last true beach towns" which is completely true to the way it looks + feels. Not swarming w/ tourists, the size of the community was just perfect for a long, relaxing getaway.

Our place was a block from the beach, where we could gaze at the water or watch the locals playing round after round of volleyball. A short walk in any direction and we could indulge in great coffee, local beers, quality pizza, and all of the awesome restaurants that were at our disposal. The town was relatively calm for a June weekend, but busy enough to see that the locals here take full advantage of the pho, pool sticks, and rum drinks offered in OB. We passed by an old Volkswagen bus w/ its doors wide open, where a group of surfers (fresh out of the water) were sipping some cold ones in the back and enjoying the sunny afternoon without a care in the world…. This is a place we could get used to.

Just got back from spending 10 days in LA! Though we both went to the west coast on work assignments, I wanted to use my free time on this trip as a way to photo journal some ideas for a new painting series.

We mostly took walks in the Silver Lake + Larchmont neighborhoods, grabbing coffees + hitting recommended spots for tacos and sushi, but I made it a point to be mindful of my surroundings along the way. The amount of fun, colorful palettes + the natural art that blends among the west coast landscape was incredible. I made a conscious effort to embrace the bold colors and it just made me feel good. It was a highly inspiring experience!

Just got back from visiting our best pals in New Orleans, a city my husband and I just can’t get enough of. There is really no where else quite like it.

Sticking to the theme of bright colors, this town has zero shortage of bold + beautiful. You can stroll through the neighborhoods and find splashes of vibrant hues everywhere. It’s incredible to see the colors playing off one another, from bars + businesses, to homes + courtyards. It’s the perfect place to be inspired visually, and of course, musically as well.
